“The Phoenix” by E’wao Kagoshima is a large-scale painting that he created in 1982 as part of a series of large, monochrome works. This abstract piece centers on the creature’s head, especially the watchful eye, the beak, crown, and claw. The fiery red intensity gives the bird its phoenix-like character, as well as its seeming rise out of black ashes. An interesting item of note is the fairly detailed US dollar coin seated beneath the bird, humorously misspelled and haphazardly printed with a backward “N.” This piece, with its volume and energy, surely demands a grand, high-traffic space in need of a central talking point.
This work is based on female presence in life with a lot of color and texture
Yoojin's paintings grew out of a need to translate her visual memories onto tangible surfaces. Her secret garden of flowers is both real and dreamt, feminine and masculine, superficial and charged with feelings—inarticulate residues of sensations and experiences that remain fragrant within ourselves.
The mounted image is finished with acrylics, oils, watercolors and different inks.

This painting is oil on canvas, it has a strong combination of strokes with red the main color. In this painting I try to create mystery and drama.
